Should I give credence to the money Banishers in Ghosts of New Eden? ›

No – You can keep the money. It is possible to hand this into Captain Pennington in Fort Jericho along with the Bundle of Letters you found during the Haunting Case.

If you feel that Story and Easy are not appealing, then feel free to go for the Normal difficulty. Hard difficulty is one of the more demanding settings. It is meant for players who prefer a challenge when it comes to combat. The final difficulty in Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden is Very Hard.

Ascend oath fulfilled: Pick the Ascend oath and Banish/Ascend every ghost (you can get away with Blaming a few people, but not many). This is by far the game's "best" ending in terms of outcomes for characters and overall moral goodness. Red peacefully ascends Antea's ghost, offering closure to them both.

Blaming Jacob is the same as murdering him, but as explained in our guide on whether you should resurrect or ascend Antea - an oath you must pledge shortly after you make a decision on Ben and Jacob - you must blame Jacob if you want to resurrect Antea.

Objective: Investigate “the Scudder boy”

You will find this in the easternmost part of the area. Approach the house here to find Credence Scudder sitting by a fire. A scene will play, and we will get to chat with him. Afterwards we will be given access to the house nearby.

If you want a slightly more ethical ending, help Antea ascend by banishing spirits and by helping other spirits ascend. Blaming the living rather than banishing souls unlocks the ability to resurrect Antea, but in doing so you betray your oath as a Banisher, earning you the 'bad' ending.

Banishers' final ending is unlocked if players do the complete opposite of their initial oath, leading Red to fail in his attempt to either resurrect or ascend Antea. When this happens, Seeker, apprentice of the Swamp Witch Siridean, will step in to help.

It seems that Don't Nod might be planning on creating a whole franchise of Banishers and releasing a sequel to Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, which was launched on February 12, 2024.

Banishers Ascend oath explained

If you choose to help Antea ascend, this means that when you eventually make it back to her body in the meetinghouse, Red will allow her to move on peacefully. This is, essentially, the easier option of the two.

Banishing is a forceful passing on, while ascending is a gentle passing on. Obviously the latter is the "good" one.

Ending 1 – Antea Ascends

This is considered the 'best' ending. For this ending you need to make the oath with Antea for her to Ascend. You will then need to play through the game and Ascend/Banish the ghosts in the main story and Haunting Cases whenever given the chance. Doing so will unlock the ending.

It's quite clear that the Ascend oath is the morally "good" option here. You avoid murdering indiscriminately and do your job as a Banisher by ending ghost haunts, intending to the same for Antea's ghost. There are also three possible endings by choosing this oath.

In this ending, players will have to pick the option to Blame as many people as possible. You do have the freedom to sometimes pick the other two, but most of the time you will need to choose Blame.

There is also a third option – you are able to blame the living victim of the haunting and kill them. Killing a living person adds to a ritual that can bring your lover Antea back to life. Resurrecting Antea will ultimately lead to an insane amount of blood on your very-much-alive hands.
