Cruz Mountains, Santa Clara Valley, Eastern Santa Clara Hills,
East Bay Hills and Valleys, and the Salinas Valley.

* WHEN...From 11 AM Wednesday to 8 PM PDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Those sensitive to heat, such as the homeless,
elderly, children, and pets will be at risk for heat-related
illnesses. Those without effective cooling and/or adequate
hydration will be at the greatest risk.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Despite the downgrade from an Excessive
Heat Warning to a Heat Advisory, the long duration of this
heat wave will cause cumulative effects and this situation
remains dangerous.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circ*mstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a Red
Flag Warning for gusty offshore winds and low humidity, which is
in effect from 11 PM this evening to 11 PM PDT Tuesday.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 512 Santa Cruz Mountains.

* TIMING...From 11 PM this evening to 11 PM PDT Tuesday

* WINDS...Northwest around 15 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 22 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Up to 99.

* IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions. Increased chance
for fire starts in dry, open grasses. Outdoor burning and
especially fireworks are not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of

* WHERE...Marin Coastal Range, Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay
Interior Mountains, North Bay Interior Valleys, East Bay

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 604 PM PDT, the public reported heavy rain in the advisory
area due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.

San Jose, Fremont, Sunnyvale, San Mateo, Redwood City,
Mountain View, Palo Alto, Cupertino, Pacifica, Menlo Park,
