The Dreamer's Book of the Dead: A Soul Traveler's Guide… (2024)

This is a great new way to explore relationships with deceased loved-ones, a how-to on how to recognize communications with the other side and a great no-nonsense book that describes landscapes on the other side with a lot less emphasis on "traditional" beliefs about what it looks like there.
On another note, anyone who has ever lost a loved one and then dreamed about them later - you need this book. This is the only book I have come across that guides you into better understanding what those dreams mean and how you can visit the other side at will.
-------
Forgot to add that this is very well-done historical account of societies that valued dreams, dreaming, dream-recall and dream journeying and sharing. It shows how current society could greatly benefit from working with and exploring your dreams to create better conscious lives with ourselves, as well as increasing our communication and understanding of our soul path or higher purpose.

Robert Moss set out to create a Western "Book of the Dead" and did an excellent job. This is not a collection of death practices in the Western world. It is an introduction to the connection between our dreams and life after death.

Moses has a deep connection to W.B Yeats, the British poet, and many of the poems are quoted and shown in a spiritual view of the afterlife.

In our culture, we quickly dispose of our dead and then "move on," or "seek closure." There is no need to hide death--none of us came to stay. A good book for expanding your spiritual view of life, death, and dreams.

I read this book during the time I lost my cousin. It is filled with information about the spirit realm and the after life. Our dreams are the gateway to the spirit realm. So say sleep is a sister to death. well we sleep every nite and visit these different realms. We often wake and disregard our dreams as illusions or fantasies. Since I read this book. I have actually met with my deceased cousin on more than one occasion.

Beskaitant kilo dvejopi jausmai.

Few Significant Insights

This book was not nearly as good as Robert Moss’ book entitled “Conscious Dreaming.” The book is filled with dream examples and highly imaginative (often way out there) stories but not so much on guiding a dreamer to the other side. One part of the book was describing gruesome rituals of the past that I couldn’t even read, as it was like subjecting myself to a horror film, which is not why I purchased this book. There were about 3 “ah ha’ moments making the book worthy of its title. The best part of the book, and the only reason I would recommend the book, is for the 6 very good questions every person should ask themselves, multiple times throughout their lives, in preparation for dying.

I read this because I will be volunteering at a hospice facility and it was recommended. It was a little scattered but I appreciated learning about different cultures and their customs in regards to the dying process. I found it to be a pretty interesting and unique read.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit, though it felt significantly more scattered than some of his other works. I think he was trying to fit a lot into it and shifted gears more than I would normally like. That said, he did maintain the overall focus of showing that the dreamspace is the same energetic space we go to when we die. The implications of this are far-reaching and that is why he may have been less tightly focused than with other books.

Robert Moss is our foremost dream expert. This is a worthy addition to his oeuvre. It's about the relationship of dreams to death, to contact with the dead through dreams, and much much more. If you're a student of dreams, interested in contacting loved ones who have gone on, in finding out what awaits you, and just in a damn good read, this is your book.

I very much liked this book. The author speaks of the practices from across many different cultures, connecting the stories and practices. It is no secret, I am a fan of Robert Moss's work. However, there are points in this book that I did find a bit dull and over explained. I did get bored at points, but overall this is a volume every dream traveler should have in their collection.

With this book, I understood where my daughter is and some of the things she may be doing there. I also learned how to communicate with her and other loved ones within my dreams. See Appendix B for the Dream Re-Entry Technique.

I love this book! It was a major source of inspiration while I was writing my current book "The Sparrow." My heroine undergoes a shamanic initiation and must navigate non-ordinary reality. I've found Mr. Moss's books to be the most accesible for this type of journey.

Not my favorite of Robert Moss's excellent dream books but a worthy reference to have on hand for any "frequent flier" dreamers and others interested in exploring the "other side" through dreams.
